5. Publicly available buyer feedback when relevant
6. Additional reputable sources used to cross-check important details
Information from different sources is compared rather than automatically treated as identical.
When sources disagree on an important specification or policy and the correct information cannot be reliably confirmed, TrekReview aims to point out the discrepancy instead of guessing.
Research-Based Reviews vs. Hands-On Reviews
TrekReview distinguishes between product research and personal product testing.
Research-Based Review
A research-based review is created using documented product information, comparisons, policies, and other available sources.
If I have not personally used or tested a product, I do not describe the article as a hands-on review.
Research-based articles may evaluate information such as:
· Product dimensions
· Weight
· Materials
· Features
· Available configurations
· Compatibility
· Price and promotions
· Shipping
· Returns
· Warranty terms
· Differences between competing products
They should not present unverified claims about long-term durability, comfort, performance, or real-world experience as established facts.
Hands-On Review
When TrekReview personally tests a product, the article should clearly identify it as hands-on testing and explain what was evaluated.
The distinction matters because researching a product and physically testing it are not the same thing.
How I Handle Brand Claims
Brands naturally describe their products in the most favorable way possible.
Marketing statements are therefore not automatically treated as independently verified facts.
When appropriate, TrekReview distinguishes between:

· Manufacturer or retailer claims
· TrekReview analysis
· Hands-on observations, when testing has actually been performed
For example, if a manufacturer describes a bag as “the ultimate travel companion,” TrekReview would not automatically present that statement as an objective conclusion.
Instead, the article focuses on measurable characteristics and practical considerations that readers can evaluate for themselves.
Editorial Independence
TrekReview participates in affiliate programs and may earn a commission when readers purchase products through certain links.

However, affiliate relationships do not change documented specifications, justify hiding conflicting information, or prevent corrections when published information is inaccurate.
